A 12 bedroom Victorian clifftop property was sold at auction at the end of last month.

Not unsual in itself, given it has stunning views over the Atlantic and massive refurbishment potential, however it comes with one drawback - it is widely referred to as the "haunted house".

The house on the cliff edge in Westward Ho! in North Devon, was  built about 1885. The road leading to it was especially built to enable access to the house and was initially known as Seafield Road, later it became Merley Road.

The UK’s biggest property auctioneer says there’s growing evidence that an increasing number of buy-to-let landlords are choosing to sell by auction rather than via estate agents.
