Who's buying Bantham?

The identity of a buyer reportedly shelling out £11.5 million to acquire an entire seaside fishing village in Devon remains a mystery.

We reported a couple of months ago that the village was for sale and it didn't take long for a buyer to come along, but residents of picturesque Bantham are still none the wiser as to who the person or persons might be.

Bantham, which includes the beach, estuary and about 20 cottages in the village, has been sold to a "family who will continue to manage and conserve the estate", said Strutt and Parker.

Bantham lies amid the South Hams within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has been a popular surfing and fishing destination for almost a century.
