Six foot wide house on sale in Cornwall

There have been for sale a number of tiny properties causing a stir on the London housing market. From “the smallest house in the world” in Islington to the Hendon loft you have to crawl on all fours to enter. Among these was a house in Haringey that measures just seven feet wide. Now if you thought that this was a tight fit, it turns out there’s an even narrower living space up for grabs on the South West coast.

Built onto the side of a regular house in 1917 as an ad hoc servants’ quarters, the dwelling pictured above in Redruth, Cornwall, is on the market as a standalone two-bedroom semi with an asking price of £119,950, despite measuring just six foot one inch across!

The property is being sold by local estate agents Miller Countrywide who describe it as a “wonderful opportunity” while tellingly advising that “viewing is highly recommended to fully appreciate what the property has to offer.”

The current owner is Lisa Chirtwin, whose family have owned it for 30 years and added an L-shaped extension in 1991 that explains its surprisingly spacious interior, which somehow manages to pack in two reception rooms, a fitted kitchen and a garden overlooking the parish of Carn Brea.
