Seven-foot wide London house goes on sale for £235,000

Measuring just 84in wide, this terrace home in Haringey, will be auctioned with starting price of £235,000 next month - same price as a four-bed in Burnley.

Buyers will have to sit under the stairs in the super-slim living room but they do also get a roof terrace. “I think it will appeal to owner-occupiers or perhaps an investor,” said James McHugh of estate agent McHugh & Co, who is handling the sale. A buy-to-let landlord, he said, could rent out the corridor-shaped home for around £1,300 a month.

The London house was built, in a driveway, in 1996 by a keen entrepreneur who wanted to make some extra income. It has been owned by him ever since until it was put up for sale and snapped up by a property developer three months ago.

The narrowest house in London is believed to be a property on Goldhawk Road, Shepherds Bush, which stands just over 5ft wide. Set over five levels - a lower ground, ground, first, second and third floor – it has just 1,000sq ft of space.
