A property (pictured below) previously arranged as four flats with a large cellar, courtyard and parking in Torquay, Devon, has sold for £266,000 in an auction bidding war.

 Located at 125 Babbacombe Road, three of its apartments have been stripped for refurbishment while the fourth requires modernisation.

 

The building was among 140 lots listed across southern England by Clive Emson Auctioneers in the firm’s June auction.

 

Audrey Smith, Senior Auction Appraiser, said: “There was keen interest, with 61 bids made and the hammer coming down on £266,000, which was £141,000 more than the guide price.”

 

A top floor flat at 90 Babbacombe Road, Torquay (Devon), which had a guide price of £40,000 plus and is on a 999-year lease, fetched £47,000. Winkworth of Dartmouth was joint auctioneer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A property in Barnstaple (Devon - pictured below) town centre, which had a freehold guide price of £160,000 to £170,000, sold through the auction; 55 Boutport Street is currently let to a commercial occupier on the ground floor and residential tenant on the first floor at £24,000 per annum. The property was auctioned in arrangement with Midwinter Koval of Barnstaple.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A former bank in Tiverton (Devon) town centre with planning permission for 10 residential and commercial units is re-available; the four-storey property at 29-31 Fore Street had a freehold guide price of £350,000.

 

Re-available: A plot of land with planning consent for a two-bedroom chalet in the grounds of Denby House in Belle Vue Road, Paignton. With a freehold guide of £90,000, the lot was being auctioned jointly with Property Ladder of Paignton.

 

A bungalow at 14 Compton Road in West Charleton, Kingsbridge, which had a freehold guide of £375,000, was also listed.
