Clive Emson Auctioneers £15m-plus raised for sellers

November auction results by Clive Emson Auctioneers

A freehold building in the heart of London’s exclusive Kensington has sold in auction for £1.1 million.

The four-storey terraced property, let at £52,000 per annum (lot 26), was among 137 lots listed across southern England by Clive Emson Auctioneers, regional land and property auctioneers, in the firm’s November catalogue.

James Emson, Managing Director, said: “Arranged as a retail unit on the ground and lower ground floors, with residential upper parts and a rear workshop, accessed via a private road, the new buyer has got a lot of bricks and mortar here in an upmarket part of the capital city. We look forward to delivering for sellers in our December auction as well.”

More than £15 million was raised for sellers, with “great interest” in many of the lots; 1,400-plus unique bids were received during the auction.

In the fishing village of Mousehole, near Penzance in south-west Cornwall, the former Methodist Sunday School sold for £402,000, with 45 bids seeing the guide price exceeded by £77,000 (lot 59).

With planning permission for four houses, land in Epsom, Surrey, just over two miles from Epsom Downs Racecourse, home to the world-famous Derby, went for £425,000 (lot 110).
