Land Prices Remain Strong at Symonds & Sampson Auction

Auctioneer Bradley Towell reports on strong prices for agricultural land at Symonds & Sampson’s auction on 23 September when 23 lots went under the hammer.

“We had land of all shapes and sizes throughout Dorset and Somerset and there was demand from local farmers as well as investors and lifestyle buyers. Prices varied between £6,000 per acre for 25 acres at Sutton Poyntz which had a footpath and open access rights to £6,900 acre for 7 acres at Wyke Regis and then £8,800 for 17 acres at Wyke near Gillingham.

“The strongest money was paid for 6 acres at Portesham, selling for £11,400 acre and 6 acres at Tincleton near Dorchester made £13,000 acre.

“We also had some smaller parcels which are difficult to report on a price per acre the most successful being 1.7 acres at Yeovilton Weir with direct access to a tributary of the river Yeo. This sold for £26,000 whilst two small parcels at Beaminster with great views sold for £3,500 and £4,500 respectively.”
