Former Royal Observation Corps Monitoring Post  set in a triangular parcel of land measuring 0.15 acres. There were 1563 Royal Observation Corps Monitoring Post constructed around Britain's coasts during the Cold War period. The standard design was a reinforced concrete bunker consisting of a 14ft access shaft, a toilet and a monitoring room. They were operated by volunteers who carried out a nuclear reporting role. All the monitoring posts were closed in 1991.

This Nuclear Bunker is believed to have been built in 1961 and is one of 1560 built to the same design to meet the nuclear threat of that era. The bunker lies beneath a parcel of land that is enclosed by hedging and fencing and accessed via secure iron gates. We understand that the bunker was still under the ownership of the ministry of defence and manned part time until as recently as 1991.
