FOR AUCTION: A former police office, a snooker hall, a library and a church are among the varied lots being sold in SDL Auctions’ dedicated sale of commercial properties.

They will be sold on Friday 30th October, the second day of the auctioneer’s first two-day 224-lot auction, following a day devoted to residential property sales.

Managing director and auctioneer Andrew Parker said: “I’m delighted to be able to offer our first two-day national property auction of over 220 lots. By holding the auction over two days, with a combined catalogue of over 200 lots for the third time in as many months, we’re providing clarity for our buyers and ensuring the bidding process is as quick and easy as possible.”

With an attractive *guide price of £22,000+, the former police office, 145 Oliver Road in Ilkeston is considered by auctioneers to be suitable for a wide range of uses, subject to planning permission.

The brick building comprises a single office room and WC with off-road parking for one vehicle at the front. It is close to Ladywood Primary School and around two miles from Ilkeston town centre.

Elsewhere in Derbyshire, the former Belper Library offers four-storey accommodation in a 19th-century property which was once a grand private house owned by a doctor and known as The Hollies. The property, which is being sold on behalf of Derbyshire County Council following the opening of a new library in the town, has a guide price of £300,000+.

Over the border in Nottinghamshire, Scarrington Methodist Church, Main Street in Scarrington is a detached property dating back to 1818 and retaining most of its original features. It comprises an entrance area and church meeting hall, providing great potential for other uses, subject to planning permission,  and has a guide price of £50,000+.

The Pot Black Snooker Centre (Gravity Bar) in Lenten Pool, Denbigh is another property which would be suitable for a number of uses, subject to the necessary consents. The two-storey property features an entrance hallway, a front bar with DJ booth, main bar with tills, beer pumps, chiller cabinets, DJ booth and stage, a snug area, WC, office and covered decking.

The catalogue also features a large portfolio of business premises in Derby with a guide price of £1m, and a 14 bedroomed mixed-use property in Barrow-in-Furness with a part-developed commercial area on the ground floor.

Andrew added: “I’m delighted to be offering such a diverse range of commercial properties alongside our residential investment properties, and I’m confident there will be plenty of interest from bidders.”

SDL Auctions is the UK’s most successful live-streamed auctioneer and held its biggest auction ever in September. In August, it became the first UK auctioneer to offer more than 200 lots in this traditionally quiet month since 2008. By the end of September it had sold more than 1,000 properties and raised more than £130 million for sellers in 2020.
