Chance to ‘altar’ a former church in Bond Wolfe Auctions’ July sale

The former Small Heath Methodist Church in Yardley Green Road will be going under the hammer in Bond Wolfe Auctions’ next remote bidding auction on Wednesday 29 July.

The auction follows Bond Wolfe’s first remote bidding auction on Wednesday 24 June which attracted 131 lots and raised over £17 million with an astonishing 98% success rate.

The 29 July auction will see more than 170 lots go under the hammer with the freehold, former Small Heath Methodist Church – which comes with an adjoining residential property at 1 Blake Lane – expected to attract strong bidding.

Ian Tudor, managing director of Bond Wolfe Auctions, said: “This is an unusual lot, but it has huge potential. The area is principally residential in nature, mixed with retail and other commercial uses.

“Given its prominence within this densely developed suburb, the property is considered suitable for a wide variety of alternative uses, including community and commercial uses, subject to planning permission, hence its very attractive guide price of £250,000+.”

The property is freehold with vacant possession upon completion. The total space of the church plus the ground floor of 1 Blake Lane, which houses the existing kitchen area for the church, is approximately 4,115 sq ft.

There is separate access to the first floor of 1 Blake Lane which has a bedroom, lounge, bathroom, attic room and kitchenette.

Inside the church building, the accommodation is currently configured to provide on the ground floor a vestibule entrance, reception area, two meeting rooms, a main church area, a function/meeting room, kitchen, meter room, disabled WC and two male and female WCs.

On the first floor there is a gallery area, while outside there is a car park to the front and an enclosed yard to the rear.

The auction on Wednesday 29 July starts at the earlier time of 9am, to accommodate the large catalogue being offered on the day, and will be livestreamed via Bond Wolfe Auctions’ website with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet only.
