A charming, thatched cottage needing modernisation in a village setting north of Chelmsford has sold at auction for £395,000.

Cromwell House in Willows Green, Great Leighs, was among 149 lots in the latest auction being held by one of the top five property auctioneers in the UK, Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.

It was offered jointly with Fenn Wright.
