How to organise your bookcase!

There has been quite a discussion going on in the office today about how best to store books (interesting I know!) and now we thought we'd share some top tips to help you declutter and organise your bookcase!

  1. Line the back of your bookcase with wallpaper or add a coat of paint that goes with your overall decor.
  2. Separate your books by size and attractiveness. Consider storing uninteresting or unattractive titles in a less conspicuous area.
  3. Choose books to group together in odd numbers. Add figurines, or items that are in collections or heirlooms. Round plaques, picture frames, glass or porcelain items will add a nice contrast to the straight spines of the books.
  4. Create an eclectic look by organizing books of differing sizes and appearance. Arrange a traditional and uniform group by picking books that are similar in texture and color. Assembling groups will add visual interest to your bookcase.
  5. Place some groupings in the bookcase standing on their ends. Separate groupings with a collectible. Place other groupings in stacks lying on their sides. Evaluate your work looking for symmetry. Use the entire bookcase.

Remember that symmetry will add balance, but it does not need to be perfect....Antiques look particularly good paired with books....Photos in pretty frames also look nice in bookcases.

And there we have it.
