Unusual land near River Dee sells for three times expected price

An unusual plot of land overlooking the River Dee estuary sold for more than three times its *guide price at the latest SDL Auctions Cheshire and North Wales’ auction in Chester.

The attention of excited bidders was drawn to land situated off Byrnford Hill, in Brynford, near Holywell in North Wales, and the plot ended up selling for £15,750 – 215 per cent higher than its guide price of £5,000+.

The fenced and gated plot of land, which contains a former water tank reservoir, enjoys lovely views out towards the Dee Estuary.

Edward Feather, senior valuer and auctioneer at SDL Auctions Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Sales of such rare and interesting units like this are not common and it proved to be of big interest to a wide variety of prospective buyers.

“It just goes to show how useful auctions can be in gaining the best price for property owners.”

Another lot that sold well, thanks to its overall plot size, was Briarcroft, a fire-damaged detached bungalow on Church Road in Dodleston – one of Chester’s finest villages – which sold for £239,000 from a guide price of £150,000+.
