Today we're off to Middlesex....

I have an unusual property to show you today. How do you like the sound of a penthouse project property? Yup, you read that one right. It's a rather uncommon thing to come across, and that means it's a very unique opportunity for all of you. So, lets head for Middlesex and take a closer look to see what's on offer...

This fantastic property is a three bedroom eleventh floor penthouse apartment with wrap around balconies providing stunning London skyline views. As you will see if you check out the catalogue images, it's an older building and also a dated apartment that seems to have been pretty much untouched over the years. But this also means it's a pretty perfect blank canvas on which to create an amazing penthouse property that fits whatever your personal taste and style may be. Apart from some small areas of wooden panelling the whole property is incredibly neutral throughout, and has had very little done to it at all. This means there's no remodelling to undo, and it's ready for you to walk in there and start making your mark room by room from day one until it's just right for you.

Now, before looking any closer at the interior, I really want to pause and talk about the exterior. That incredible wrap around balcony looks out onto some awesome views, and thanks to the height of the building itself you get to see over incredible distance in multiple directions. It's also lot of room to have outdoors for an apartment of this size, and there is definitely more scope for the space than just somewhere to get a breath of fresh air, or to top up that tan in the summer months. The added benefit of being up so high also gives an amazing feeling of privacy that your average garden or balcony in a built up area just can't provide thanks to being overlooked by neighbours. Here, the height from the ground also adds protection from passers by at street level too. Good news for people who hate tan lines! ;-)

There's definitely plenty space outside for a nice bistro set and also some pots, planters, climbers, or hanging baskets... whatever your taste, there is a way to add some greenery and a splash of colour from plants and flowers. There's even enough space to potentially have a little kitchen garden on the go, making the most of all the sunshine you will benefit from in such an elevated position. So whether it's just a little herb garden, some strawberries and sunflowers for the kids/grandkids, a bunch of potatoes and carrots, or something a little more unusual and exotic... there is room enough to grow, to relax and unwind, or even to entertain outside in this fantastic exterior space!

So, stepping back inside I'd like to again make more sweeping generalisations about this property, something I will do often here since it really is so blank throughout the interior that it actually has limited features for me to describe. Oh, and if you've gone to look at the catalogue page on our site and wondering why I seem to be seeing way more than you to be able to make such sweeping remarks. The auctioneer does have some additional images on their website as well folks, and in the case of a property as rare as this one it's well worth taking the time to see for yourself everything on offer... or you can just take my word for it if you're peeps who don't have time just now to go looking for them. Strangely enough in this case the lack of things to describe is in itself a fantastic feature, since you have little need to erase anything from previous occupiers before injecting your own style to bring the place to life.

If I wanted to really take it back to the barest of bones I could describe the whole place by saying "It has lots of windows, it has neutral walls, a big balcony, and fabby views". This place is ready to be imprinted upon, and one of the most amazing things about this apartment is the enormous amount of windows and natural light that are present in far higher quantities than you would expect in a property of this size. You have a room with pretty much two whole walls of floor to ceiling windows! It may actually be the entire of both those outward facing walls, although we unfortunately can't see for certain either way from the images provided. What is definitely on offer is wide reaching London Skyline on at least two sides of a very good sized room, and those views can be enjoyed whatever the weather or temperature outside :-)

I could actually see this property being incredibly appealing for artists in many genres... whether that be art, music, dance, or something else. It's impossible to ignore just how special a space like that is, with such vast quantities of light that changes with the time of day or seasons, and wonderful wide reaching views of your surroundings, it's a perfect creative space. That floor to ceiling windows feature is repeated again on a smaller scale in at least two further rooms, meaning at least a couple of bedrooms come with some pretty amazing scenery to wake up to... and in the evenings you can enjoy those starry skies thanks to a limited effect of light pollution this high up and overlooking the green belt area that seems to stretch out from at least one elevation. The only way you could possible improved upon this in any way would be if that elevation also faces the exact right direction to frame the sunrise or sunset in all their glory as well.

Again, you are probably waiting for more description of the apartment itself, yet I don't actually have much more to say about it. This is a home that is so integrated with the world outside the windows that they have become part of the property itself. You cannot walk through this property without regularly getting an eyeful of the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. It matters little if you prefer only city skyline or only those fields and trees, since you have the benefit of a good share of both from the enormous balcony wrapped around the property as well as from the enormous windows of multiple different spaces inside.

I really should say something about that kitchen though. Yup, I doubt any of you looking through the set of images I'm seeing won't have had some opinion of this important space. While there may be a minority out there that love that retro feel, a great many will immediately have started picturing how they would replace it with something sleek and modern or at least from this millennium! But that's what I love best about the room. It's easily spruced up to keep the retro feel, or fully replaced with something more your style. It does not impose itself on you in a way nor impede upon your imagination due to it's neutral tone and lack of bold features, and the space is plenty big enough to get in all the necessities without the space becoming cramped. It may not be the prettiest kitchen out there, but neither is it difficult to picture something else in its place, or to actually rip it out and start again.

We can't see the bathroom in any of the images which is a pity, but I'd imagine like the rest it's probably been untouched for a few decades or so, and most likely needs replacing. At least the extent of the neutrality throughout this penthouse project means most likely it will also be easy enough to replace with something to your personal taste. My single disappointment is that I will not see the end result unless it is purchased by an investor that wishes to refurbish and sell on quickly at auction for profit. While I would of course take great pleasure in seeing the old place brought up to date, I don't feel I would get to truly see it at its best that way.

The way to discover the best this property can be is to place it in the hands of an owner occupier that will make it their own. Having no need to decorate to the tastes of the majority, someone moulding and shaping this to their personal wants and needs will not stop at a neutral base that can be easily changed to fit the next occupier... and unfortunately I'm not likely to see that actual end result. Well, unless someone reading this blog is that lucky owner when that hammer falls. If you are, we'd love to see what you decide to do with this fantastic property. I'd even write up a follow up feature on the end result for our blog if you also fancied showing off your spectacular penthouse apartment once the work is complete!

So what do you think peeps? It's one very unique opportunity isn't it?? Very few properties offer you so much of the outdoors without demanding you also maintain all the green space around you. Here you can relax and enjoy all that beauty and more without having to lift a finger more than just perhaps watering a few plants on your balcony! This is an opportunity not to be missed, and with it under the hammer on the 25th May you'll need to be quick to get your hands on this fabby penthouse property :-)
