SDL Auctions Graham Penny’s first 2018 auction tops £1.8m

SDL Auctions Graham Penny’s 2018 Nottingham auctions got off to a great start with over £1.8m raised in the 31 January auction held at Nottingham Racecourse.

The auction was held in the week when SDL Auctions Graham Penny was once again named as the top auctioneer in Nottingham by the Essential Information Group.

Early lots sold well with 76 Chadwick Road, Nottingham, a three bedroomed semi-detached house requiring modernisation and improvement, achieving £133,000 from a *guide price of £80,000.

Similar success was enjoyed for  7 Staverton Road, Bilborough, an extended, three bedroomed semi-detached property which sold for £105,500 from a guide price of £54,000.

A large four bedroomed, semi-detached home at 257 Woodborough Road, Nottingham, also attracted strong interest, selling for £130,000, from a guide price of £110,000.

Andrew Parker, auctioneer and managing director at SDL Auctions Graham Penny, said: “2018 has started well for us in Nottingham, with strong interest shown in many of the lots.

“Semi-detached properties with scope for improvement sold well appealing to families looking for more space.

“And as demand in the auction room demonstrates, they can also represent good value for investors,” he said.

SDL Auctions Graham Penny finished 2017 with sales up nearly nine per cent on 2016.

“Our results demonstrate the growing popularity of property auctions in the East Midlands and how they are a powerful way of achieving the best price in a guaranteed timescale,” said Mr Parker.

On the commercial front, the former Shakespeare Inn in Sutton in Ashfield successfully sold for £127,000, from a guide price of £75,000.
