Property for Auction in Notts and Wilts

Well, my first one for you today has a little bit of mystery going on... but I'll get to that in a minute! This one's Grade II Listed, located in wonderful Wiltshire, and while from the outside it looks compact, it's got more in there than you realise. Not only is there 2 bedrooms on the first floor, there are also 2 attic rooms and 2 cellar rooms to take into account. Including the ground floor that means we have rooms across 4 floors!! Definitely more space than I had expected at first glance... and that's before I found out this place has a little secret!

But before we talk more on mysteries and secrets... I'd like to take a moment to mention some of the wonderful original features this one has to offer. Listing panelling, exposed beams, and fireplaces... all of these make me smile. This place looks packed with character and those features really do add a little magic to the place. I really do love to see some good quality craftsmanship that has survived across the years. It's often said things used to be built to last, and today is a bit of a throwaway society. While often that may be the case, fortunately when it comes to properties we often have the pleasure of seeing these lovely features lasting for the long haul through multiple refurbishments of their surroundings.

Now, to the exterior, there is a courtyard garden at the rear. It's very much a blank canvas, and definitely needs TLC, but it's a nice small manageable space. There is one very intriguing feature to that garden though. Remember that mystery/secret I mentioned? Well it can be found from that little courtyard out the back. It seem you can access what has been described as a "secret room" above the kitchen from the garden! Now, if you're a curious creature like me, the first thing you will do is scour the lot's images, and then the writing in hope of more details... but nope, they have left it at that unfortunately. So whoever is the lucky owner of this one as the hammer falls.. we are dying to know more about that secret room, perhaps someone out there will let us take a peek? Picture on a postcard, please! ;-)

Now, while my first offering packed lots into a small package... well this Nottinghamshire property heads in the opposite direction. Big spacious rooms, and boasting 3 bedrooms in the main part of the property, with a 4th located in the adjoining annexe accessed via the kitchen. Now the auctioneers have suggested that the annex is ideal for a teenager, but I can see a far wider range of uses... in particular I could see the annexe as perfect for a dependant older relative or loved one, as well as for those teenage or grown up kids. Either way, it is an incredibly useful space and a major feature of this property.

That said, I really must mention some of the other features of this fab 4 bed family home. It has lots more going for it as well as that annex. The fireplace in the lounge is gorgeous, well proportioned in this large space, and pleasantly eye catching in the neutral surroundings. As for the kitchen? Well I make no secret of my love for the slate/tiled look on a kitchen floor in particular. It's a very attractive appearance, but equally so if done with actual slate then it is also hard wearing and practical too. Additionally the room benefits from the dark surfaces and eye catching tiles popping against those white walls and units. I very pretty space I think, and hope you will agree.

Throughout, the only thing this property needs is for you to walk right in there and make your mark. Perhaps neutral is your thing? Maybe you're dying to add a splash of colour to break up that blank canvas? Well I've still to add more to the package... there is also the lawned garden, patio and parking for 2 cars.

It's a lovely big property. Thanks to the annex and those lovely big airy rooms, this one is likely to catch quite a few eyes by auction day :-)
