As it's a bank holiday, we'll be sharing some of our hot picks at auction, today AND tomorrow!

This first lot is a three storey 4 bed house in Hampshire, needing full refurbishment. Have to admit, despite being a fixer upper, it was actually the bold colours in the images on the auctioneers' site which caught my eye, and while that "look" will certainly not appeal to everyone, there’s bits here and there that I’d personally just freshen up and retain.

While that’s more cosmetics I’m commenting on really, and there are places you can see that some work will be required to bring it up to date, for the most part things like flooring, walls and windows appear in good condition making this one perfect for investors and also very well suited to the owner occupier who loves their DIY and is seeking a project property.

It’s a fantastic blank (if colourful!) canvas for someone to make their mark on, and given the three floors and 4 bedrooms it will be a fantastic family home when the refurbishment is complete. Personally, I especially like the exterior, with its striking appearance in white and red, with rather nice windows as well. Understandably the bold blue walls/white beams in the spacious attic bedroom may not be to everyone’s taste, but I actually rather like it myself, and could see a young or teenage boy totally loving it as it is!

I’d love to get my hands on one like this, with all its little quirks, and being so light and bright inside thanks to those nice big windows (and not just the bright decor!). Probably, the only possible negative I can see is that the bathroom is accessed through the 3rd bedroom, and while resolving this is perhaps a step too far for the less experienced DIYer, taking into consideration everything else this one has to offer... I can see there being plenty of interested parties when this one goes under the hammer!
