Garage in London for auction for £550,000

A small garage on an oddly shaped plot of land in the wealthy London borough of Chelsea is set to become the most expensive in the country after it went on sale for over half a million pounds.

Although the 11ft by 7ft installation off the King’s Road is only large enough to hold one car, its asking price is more than twice that of the average UK home, and three times more than last month’s average property price in England and Wales. And yet it still appears likely that the property’s exorbitant price will be met, with investors expressing interest after planning permission was approved last year to convert it into a home.

Once purchased, the garage will likely be demolished and replaced with a single storey home with a basement addition. It will have two bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, a living room, a kitchen/diner, a toilet, a guest shower room and a patio.

The auction will be held on October 30 at Allsop’s auction in The Cumberland Hotel near Marble Arch.
