More than £5 million was raised in sales at SDL Auctions Graham Penny’s first Derby auction of 2018 on Thursday 22 February.

Strong bidding began from the very first lot of the day at Pride Park Stadium, with a three bedroomed, semi-detached house in need of improvement at 385 Baker Street in Alvaston selling for £99,000, from a *guide price of £40,000+.

This set the scene for a succession of healthy prices for properties in Alvaston, with 13 Severn Street selling for £77,500 from a guide price of £45,000+, 11 Stanley Road selling for £85,000 from a guide price of £50,000+, and 26 Stanley Road selling for £95,000 from a guide price of £59,000+.

Another popular lot was an attractive, semi-detached house with four bedrooms at 29 Whitaker Road in Derby. Although this needs modernising, its location within the noted Littleover Community School catchment area saw it sell for £189,000 from a guide price of £125,000+.

Meanwhile, a block of two self-contained apartments converted from The Old York Tavern at 23 York Street in the popular Friar Gate area of Derby sold for £249,000 from a guide price of £225,000+.

Competitive bidding continued throughout the auction, with total sales from the 61 lots offered reached £5.27 million.
